OCSI brings the combined resources of six well established organizations together to work toward Sustainable Infrastructure in Ontario

Creation of OCSI

On October 4, 2006, associations involved in Ontario's infrastructure attended an inaugural meeting in Mississauga. The associations who participated represent the public works, wastewater, water, transportation and municipal engineering sectors in Ontario, and comprised
  • " Water Environment Association of Ontario (WEAO)
  • " Ontario Public Works Association (OPWA)
  • " Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA)
  • " Ontario Municipal Water Association (OMWA)
  • " Municipal Engineers Association (MEA)
  • " Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA).

The Organization

OCSI will initially be managed by a Management Committee. One individual from each of the founding organizations will be part of the committee.

There will be a rotating Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary.
The following individuals were selected as initial officers of the organization:

Chair: Paul Smeltzer, OPWA
Vice-Chair: Carl Bodimeade, WEAO
Secretary: Sheila Richardson, OPWA

OCSI will maximize dialogue between groups. It is an ad hoc, issue-based, umbrella organization. The organization will vet and prioritize issues using the resources of the membership, which range from technical specialists to municipal political representatives.
